Lexus RC F Track Edition pricing revealed for Australia

Track-ready coupe debuts alongside 'standard' facelifted 2019 RC F at NAIAS.

January 14, 2019: Lexus has revealed the RC F Track Edition in Detroit this week, which is scheduled to commence production during the second quarter of 2019.

Unveiled alongside the updated 2019 RC F, the Track Edition blends "a serious performance car for the track with the luxury and craftsmanship expected of a Lexus".

UPDATE, April 4, 2019: The RC F Track Edition will be priced from $165,690 before on-road costs when it touches down in Australia this May.

As predicted, the Track Edition has gone on a bit of a diet, with "preliminary estimates" claiming a weight reduction of 65 kilograms compared to the outgoing RC F.

Various components including the carbon-fibre front air dam, carbon rear wing, carbon roof and bonnet, 19-inch BBS lightweight alloys, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and titanium exhaust system all contribute to the weight loss, while the revised suspension and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber enhance grip and handling.

Lexus doesn't quote beefier outputs for the 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8351kW and 530Nm remain on tap – though there's more rigid engine mounts, revised intake routing and a lower rpm trigger point for the secondary intake opening (now 2800rpm compared to 3600rpm).

Drive continues to be sent to the rear wheels exclusively by an eight-speed automatic transmission with launch control. Lexus claims the Track Edition will hit 100km/h from a standstill in "just over four seconds".

Inside, there's red leather upholstery with Alcantara accents, along with red carbon trim for the doors and dashboard. Four body colours will be offered with the RC F Track Edition – White Nova, Sonic Titanium, Graphite Black and Matte Grey (exclusive to the Track Edition).

Like the wider 2019 RC range, the RC F and RC F Track Edition benefit from a mild styling update that includes new LED headlights with integrated daytime-running lights, a lower lip opening for the spindle front grille, along with new LED tail-lights and a reshaped rear bumper.

The 2019 RC F and RC F Track Edition will be on display alongside the LC Convertible concept revealed last week, and are scheduled to go into production during the second quarter of 2019.

Lexus Australia has confirmed the RC F and RC F Track Edition will arrive locally in May, with pricing and specifications to be announced closer to launch.
