2020 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 Coupe spied

Swoopy twin-turbo performance hero spotted for the first time.

The next-generation Mercedes-AMG GLE63 Coupe has been snapped for the first time in snowy Europe, ahead of an anticipated reveal sometime later this year.

Despite the heavy black-and-white camouflage, we can see the GLE Coupe will look very much like its wagon-bodied sibling, with an updated take on Benz's coupe design language at the rear.

For the AMG version, the GLE gets the Panamericana front grille, beefier bumpers with large intakes, large alloy wheels and massive brakes. There's also a quad-tipped exhaust sticking out the rear.

Power is likely to come from the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 that does service in a range of AMG models, which should be available in two states of tune – standard and 'S'.

We're expecting outputs to mirror that of the Mercedes-AMG E63, meaning the 'standard' version will make 420kW and 750Nm, while the S will get 450kW and 850Nm. Thanks to the extra grunt and 4Matic+ performance all-wheel drive, the GLE63 should hit triple figures in just under 4.0 seconds.

As for timing, we're still waiting to see production versions for the AMG GLE63 wagon, along with the entire GLE Coupe range. It's likely those models will be revealed before year's end, ahead of a late-2019 or early-2020 market launch.
