Refreshed performance variant gets revised looks, new transmission, and a new 'Competition' option package.
The updated 2019 Audi TT S has been revealed, ahead of its Australian arrival in the second quarter of 2019.
Following on from the standard range, the updated TT S coupe and convertible get new bumpers with horizontal 'blades', along with aluminium-look accents for the splitter, air inlets and trim strips as standard.
Headlining the updates, though, is the addition of a new seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic as standard equipment, compared to the outgoing model's six speeds, along with a bit more torque from the 2.0-litre turbo four shared with the S3 and Volkswagen Golf R – now rated at 400Nm.
It's worth noting the 225kW/400Nm tune of the European model may not be offered in Australia due to our market being designated a 'hot climate' rating. Should that be the case, the S3's current 213kW/380Nm tune seems likely.
The extra torque and extra gear are claimed to shave a tenth of a second off the TT S' 0-100 time, now claimed at 4.5 seconds for the coupe and 4.8 seconds for the Roadster.
As before, the TT S sends drive to the ground via a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system, with magnetic ride control shock absorbers fitted as standard too.
Finally, there's a new TT S Competition package (pictured in red). Additional specifications include LED headlights, laminated Audi rings on the side sills (coupe only), privacy glass, red brake calipers, a fixed rear wing, 20-inch gloss black alloys, and gloss black exterior accents.
Three colours are available with the Competition package – Glacier White, Tango Red, and Mythos Black.
Inside, the Competition upgrade offers two colourways, one being Express Red upholstery with Granite Grey stitchting, the other being Ebony (black) upholstery with Express Red stitching.
Additionally, the seat trims and centre console can be had in Slate Grey chrome or Tango Red (the latter is coupe only). Other changes include red air vent rings, Alcantara gear lever and steering wheel (with red 12 o'clock marker), along with carbon trim inserts.
