2019 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder spied in the snow

Flagship version of entry-level convertible edges closer to production.

The upcoming Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder has been spied again, this time during cold weather testing in snowy Europe.

Following the launch of the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport last week, it looks like the German marque is readying the flagship versions of its Cayman and Boxster for an official reveal in the coming months.

While the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport comes with a 3.8-litre naturally-aspirated flat six, it's still rumoured the 718 Boxster Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 will get a lower-output version of the 911 GT3's 4.0-litre flat six making around 320kW.

The rumour mill also indicates both models will offer six-speed manual and dual-clutch PDK transmissions, sending drive to the rear wheels only.

Like previous iterations of both the GT4 and Spyder, the 718-generation versions will likely be produced in limited numbers with a significant price jump over the current GTS range toppers.

As for timing, it's likely both the GT4 and Spyder will be revealed very soon, perhaps at the Geneva motor show in March ahead of a market launch later in the year. Stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the latest.
