2018 Audi A3 recalled

Premium small car asked back for potentially faulty rear seats.

Audi Australia has recalled 55 examples of the 2018 '8V' A3 over concerns the mounting for the rear head restraints may not be correctly welded to the rear seat backrest.

The German company reports "the mounting for the head restraint is not correctly welded to the outer backrest frame for the rear seat", which means the head restraint may not support and protect a passenger as intended in an accident.

Audi says the fault could pose a risk of "serious injury" to the rear-seat occupants.

There are 55 units affected by this recall, which were manufactured between week 22 and week 31 in 2018 (May 28 through August 5). A VIN list is available here.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be notified by Audi Australia, and will be requested to make an appointment with their local dealer to have the rear seat bench replaced if required.
