Geely FY11 ‘coupe SUV’ teased

New crossover is based on the CMA architecture developed by Volvo

Geely has teased a new 'coupe SUV' model, codenamed FY11, but full details about the car have yet to be released.

Up front the FY11 sports an angular headlight shape, and an iteration of its concentric or "expanding universe" grille design.

The company claims the car's "powerful daylight running lights give [it] a strong predator cat appearance".

From what we can see, the silhouette, as well as the tail-lights, have quite a bit of BMW X6 influence. Geely says the rear lighting graphics are inspired by Chinese fan and arrow designs.

As with other vehicles developed by the Geely group, design of the FY11 was overseen by Peter Horbury, the man widely credited for turning Volvo's design language from boxy to sleek and modern.

Under the skin, the FY11 crossover rides on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) developed by Volvo, and found in the Volvo XC40 and Lynk & Co's first spurt of vehicles.

The front- and all-wheel drive platform supports three- and four-cylinder petrol engines, as well as hybrid and pure EV drivetrains.

In its current applications, the 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine develops around 115kW of power, while the 2.0-litre petrol motor is available in number of trims ranging from 140kW and 185kW.

The XC40 is also available with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine rated at either 110kW/320Nm or 140kW/400Nm.

We're not sure which powertrains or technologies Geely's coupe SUV will pack, but the company assures us more details "will be announced in due course".
