2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift spied

Revised front- and rear-end design hidden beneath the subtle camouflage

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan has been photographed up close and personal at a petrol station during cold weather testing in Sweden.

Interestingly, this prototype is wearing a just a subtle matte disguise instead of the company's usual mind-bending fare.

Nonetheless, we can see updated headlight graphics, a new grille design, and revised bumpers. The headlight units themselves might be slimmer than on today's car, but we can't be certain.

Out the back the prototype is fitted with temporary tail-light units, suggesting a more radically redesigned rear-end with slim lights stretching into the boot lid could be on the cards.

This prototype is wearing EQ Power badges and rides on new-look aero-style alloy wheels, so it likely features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

Updated four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines are probably on the cards for the E-Class, with more models benefiting from mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid assistance.

Although our spy photography agency has yet to snap any photos of the car's interior, we anticipate the updated model will feature the company's latest touchscreen MBUX infotainment system.
