2020 Toyota Supra front-end leaked undisguised

After teasers, teasers and more teasers, we finally get to see the car's nose

The fifth-generation Toyota Supra has finally been spied completely undisguised ahead of its debut at the 2019 Detroit motor show in mid-January.

After teasers, spy photos, a disguised debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, prototype reviews, and a nagging suspicion we might be all be the automotive equivalent of Sisyphus, Supra MkV forum has been handed our first clear look at the production sports car.

The car looks remarkably faithful to the 2014 FT-1 concept. The rounded Formula One-style nose has been toned down a bit, and the glass cover for the engine has been, predictably, deleted.

The FT-1's double bubble roof has been retained, and from this perspective, and with the wing mirrors folded in, it's hard to see any similarities between the new Supra and its twin-under-the-skin, the BMW Z4.

With a large amount of BMW switchgear and electronics equipment, the Supra's BMW roots are much more evident from within its cabin.

We don't have any official details about specifications, but leaks have indicated the new Supra will be offered with turbocharged four- and six-cylinder BMW engines ranging from 145kW/320Nm to 250kW/500Nm.

The BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra will be built on the same production line by Magna Steyr in Austria.

Australia

We won't have to wait too long to see the new Supra in full, as it is scheduled to make its in-the-flesh debut at the 2019 Detroit motor show this coming January, and will go on sale in Australia during the second half of 2019.
