2012 BMW M6 spied at the 'Ring

As these photos reveal, the next generation BMW M6 is well into its development lifecycle, spied here on the outskirts of the Nürburgring after no doubt a gruelling session of on-track testing.

The trademark M Division quad-exhaust outlets are a dead giveaway that this is indeed the new BMW M6, along with larger wheels and drilled brake discs.

While the exact contours of the new sheet metal are disguised by camouflage, features such as the wide-mouth front air dam can still be seen along with the obvious inclusion of LED turn signals running along the bottom of the head light cluster.

Like the new BMW M5 which is all but confirmed to have ditched the previous 5.0-litre V10 engine, the new 2012 BMW M6 should also sport a new twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine under its bonnet.

The revised BMW 6 Series is pegged to make its first official public debut at the Paris Motor Show in Paris later this year so we expect the BMW M6 to follow not too long after.
