Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupe/Cabriolet detailed for the UK

Mercedes-Benz UK has bolstered its E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet line-up with the addition of the new E350 variant featuring the company's mild-hybrid technology.

Available in Britain from £44,750 ($78,191) for the coupe and £49,246 ($86,047) for the convertible, the E350 pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an on-board 48V starter motor/alternator for an added 'boost' over short spurts.

The combustion engine offers 299hp (223kW) and 400Nm, while the electric system adds a further 14hp (10kW). Mercedes-Benz claims a 5.9-second 0-100 time for the coupe (6.1 cabriolet), and an electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.

Both drive the rear wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission, while claimed fuel consumption is rated at 40.9mpg (6.9L/100km) for the coupe.

Standard equipment for both body styles includes blind-spot assist, a dual-12.3-inch display setup for the instrument binnacle and infotainment system, four USB ports (two in the centre console, two in the rear), 19-inch alloy wheels in five-twin-spoke design, electrically-adjustable front seats, ambient interior lighting (configurable in 64 colours), keyless start, heated front seats, and black leatherette/suede trim.

Numerous cost option packages are available, including the Premium Package (£2395) which brings the higher-end Comand Online infotainment system, wireless smartphone charging, the Parking Package incorporating a 360-degree camera system, memory functions for the seats and mirrors, along with Multibeam intelligent LED headlights.

Orders for the E350 Coupe and Cabriolet are open now in the UK, with first deliveries scheduled for "spring 2019".

Speaking with CarAdvice Mercedes-Benz's local communications boss, Jerry Stamoulis, said the E350 models are "under consideration" for the Australian market, though not confirmed at this stage.
