Toyota GR Supra Super GT concept teased

Reborn Japanese sports car to spawn another racing concept ahead of Detroit production debut.

Toyota has issued a shadowy teaser image of the racy GR Supra Super GT concept this week ahead of its reveal at the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 11.

Not much has been detailed about the vehicle, though the 'Super GT' moniker indicates the concept will likely preview Toyota and Gazoo Racing's upcoming entry into the Japanese Super GT touring car series, currently dominated by motorsport versions of the Nissan GT-R, Honda NSX and Lexus LC.

With that in mind, it's likely to be a little different from the Supra Gazoo Racing concept revealed at this year's Geneva motor show.

The GR Supra Super GT concept will go on display alongside other Toyota motorsport entries at the Tokyo Auto Salon, including the Yaris WRC, TS050 Hybrid,  and the 2019 Lexus LC Nürburgring-spec.

In addition to the company's current race cars – all of which will be competing in 2019 – the new Supra racing concept will be joined by a previous-generation Supra race car.

The all-new Supra is scheduled to debut in production guise at the Detroit motor show later next month, ahead of an Australian launch slated for late in 2019.
