Nissan GT-R50 confirmed for production

Just 50 of these Italian designed Japanese supercars will be made

The Nissan GT-R50 has been confirmed for a limited production run of just 50 cars.

Designed by ItalDesign in Turin, the GT-R50 serves to celebrate the 50th birthday of the both design house, founded in 1968, and the GT-R nameplate, which went into production with the 1969 Skyline GT-R sedan.

The Japanese automaker says the production car's exterior is "virtually unchanged" from the concept car that debuted at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The concept was presented with a striking grey and gold two-tone exterior, but buyers of the production model will be able to choose their own preferred colour combinations.

While the exterior remains true to the concept car, the interior bears more in common with other GT-R variants than the show car.

According to Nissan, the GT-R50 will have a 530kW version of the supercar's 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6.

The company has yet to confirm the rest of the production car's spec, but the concept car featured a reinforced dual-clutch six-speed rear transaxle, stronger differential and drive shafts, Bilstein DampTronic adaptive dampers, and Brembo brakes with red-painted calipers.

In Europe the GT-R50 has starting price of €990,000 ($1.5 million) before taxes and other charges. Cars will be delivered to customers in 2019 and 2020.
