2018 Hyundai iMax, iLoad recalled

Issue with the rear doors could put users at risk of injury.

Hyundai Australia has recalled the 2018 iMax and iLoad, over concerns about the locking mechanism on the rear doors.

According to the company, the locking mechanism on the rear sliding door could be defective and unable to hold the door open. When the vehicle is parked facing downhill, the holding mechanism could fail, making the door slide forward and slam shut.

This puts people – "especially the limbs" – at risk of "serious bodily injury".

A total of 129 iMax and 1044 iLoad models are included in the recall campaign – VIN lists are attached here and here respectively.

Hyundai will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to get in touch with their nearest dealer for a free fix. Concerned owners can contact Hyundai on 1800 186 306 during business hours for more information.
