2019 Skoda Scala interior revealed

Rapid replacement sports a much classier cabin with bigger displays, scheduled for reveal next week.

The interior Skoda Scala has been revealed a week before the car's full debut on December 6, local time, in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The high-end model shown here stands out thanks to the light coloured strip of, probably, fake wood running across its width, and the floating pod housing the car's infotainment system.

Although the touchscreen measures 9.2 inches diagonally, it looks significantly bigger as it surrounded by a black panel with integrated capacitive buttons.

From the photo set released today, we know top-shelf Scala variants will be equipped with a 10.25-inch customisable instrumentation screen, dual-zone climate control, automatic engine stop/start, an automated parking assistant, parking sensors, and a selection of driving modes.

Skoda says the dashboard and door panels feature soft foam surfaces with a new type of grain.

When the Scala goes on sale in 2019 it will replace the Rapid, and will be pitched against the Volkswagen Golf and its small car rivals.

Unlike its German compatriot, which uses the MQB component set, the Scala is based on the cheap-to-produce MQB-A0 architecture initially created for smaller cars, such as the Volkswagen Polo and Seat Arona.

The Czech automaker has already revealed many important details about the Scala, including its engine range and dimensions.

Exterior styling is expected to be a toned down take on the Vision RS concept unveiled at the 2018 Frankfurt motor show.
