2019 Nissan Maxima unveiled

Updated sedan gets revised design, upgraded interior and enhanced safety tech.

Nissan has revealed the refreshed 2019 Maxima at the Los Angeles motor show this week, headlined by an updated design inside and out, along with the availability of the company's Safety Shield 360 tech suite.

As revealed in the single frontal image a few weeks ago, the updated Maxima gets new jewel-like LED headlights and a revised LED daytime-running light signature, a deeper version of the V-motion front grille, revised tail-lights, and new bumpers.

There's also a range of new alloy wheel designs, quad-tipped tailpipe finishers, a new rear spoiler for the SR grade, along with the addition of Sunset Drift to the exterior palette.

Inside, there's a range of revised trims and materials depending on the model grade, which Nissan claims offer a more upmarket feel.

Opting for the Reserve Package (above) on the flagship Platinum grade brings Satin Bronze interior finishers, diamond-quilted semi-aniline leather seats in Rakuda Tan, heated rear seats, and Rakuda Tan highlights on the steering wheel and door trims.

All versions have been enhanced with rear door alert as standard, along with revisions to the navigation and infotainment systems depending on grade.

As mentioned earlier, Nissan has rolled out its Safety Shield 360 active safety suite for the updated Maxima, too. This includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist, along with reverse AEB.

Other systems like adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and driver fatigue monitoring are now available across more trim levels too – with the latter included as standard equipment.

Nissan North America has confirmed the 2019 Maxima will go on sale in mid-December, with five trim levels available: S, SV, SL, SR and Platinum.

Don't expect to see the Maxima in local showrooms anytime soon, as it's only produced in left-hand drive.
