2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible revealed, here in Q2 2019 – UPDATE

New drop-top boasts quieter cabin, 12-cylinder power, upgraded tech.

The Bentley Continental GT Convertible has been unveiled and detailed this week, joining the related coupe in the new-generation line-up.

UPDATE, 3/12/18: Bentley's local division has confirmed the Continental GT Convertible will be arriving in Australia from the second quarter of 2019, priced from $462,240.50 before on-road costs.

Under the bonnet, the Continental GT Convertible has a 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine cranking out 467kW of power and 900Nm of torque. It's hooked up to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system with a 40:60 torque split between the front and rear wheels.

Foot to the floor, the company claims the new convertible can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, and hit a top speed of 333km/h.

The convertible comes standard with a new Z-folding folding soft-top, which can electrically retract out of sight within 19 seconds. Bentley says improvements to the top's sealing and acoustic treatment have reduced interior noise levels by three decibels, and make the new convertible as quiet as the previous-generation coupe.

A Dynamic Ride system powered by the car's 48V battery is able to activate the front and rear anti-roll bars as required. Other available features include air suspension, electric power steering with a variable rack ratio, and Continuous Damping Control.

The new Continental GT convertible rides on specially designed Pirelli P-Zero tyres. Stopping ability comes courtesy of 420mm front discs with 10-piston calipers, and 380mm rear discs with four-pot calipers.

Inside (above), the Convertible's interior is pretty much identical to that of the coupe, meaning there's a rotating 12.3-inch centre display that can fold away when not in use, along with a digital instrument cluster.

Two technology packs are available for the new drop-top. The City Specification package includes hands-free boot operation, traffic sign recognition, pedestrian warning, and 360-degree camera view.

The Touring Specification includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, lane-keeping assistance, a head-up display, and night vision.
