225kW/450Nm crossover arriving in Australia next year from $68,900 before on-road costs.
BMW Australia has released pricing and specifications details for the new X2 M35i M Performance, ahead its arrival Down Under next year.
Priced from $68,900 plus on-road costs, the first M Performance version of the company's smallest coupe-styled crossover is $9000 dearer than the xDrive20d that previously held top spot in the range, though it offsets that price increase with a hefty performance punch.
Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 225kW of power and 450Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via a sports-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission.
The manufacturer claims the hot X2 will hit triple figures in just 4.9 seconds, which is right up there with the hottest hot hatches and some much more expensive sports cars.
Headlining the specification sheet are model-specific M Sport suspension, M Sport steering system, an M Sport mechanical limited-slip front differential, M Sport brakes with blue calipers, 20-inch double-spoke light alloy wheels, and the M Aerodynamics package with high-gloss black and Cerium Grey accents.
Other features above the xDrive20d include M Sport seats with integrated headrests, Dakota perforated leather upholstery, an Anthracite headliner, keyless entry with contactless tailgate operation, electric front seats with memory and lumbar support, heated front seats, Aluminium Hexagon cabin trim inserts, 'M35i' door sill finishers, a 360W 12-speaker harman/kardon audio system, along with anti-dazzle rear-view and side mirrors.
Features carried over from the recently-upgraded 2019 range include an 8.8-inch Navigation Plus infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay integration, a head-up display, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights with cornering function, dual-zone climate control, and BMW Connected+ online services.
In terms of options, BMW Australia is offering the M35i with the 'Enhance Package', priced at $2900. For the extra spend you get metallic paint, a panoramic glass sunroof, and wireless phone charging.
The BMW X2 M35i is available to order now.
