Powered-up German SUVs battle it out on the dragstrip.

Now that buyers are flocking to high-riding SUVs, manufacturers are finding ways to make crossovers as fast as sports cars – the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S and Porsche Macan Turbo are prime examples of that.

In a new YouTube clip, Britain's Top Gear UK lines up the German SUV 'hot rods' for a drag race to see which is fastest.

The AMG GLC63 S puts out a healthy 375kW and 700Nm from its 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8, while the Macan Turbo with Performance Package is powered by a 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 with outputs rated at 324kW and 600Nm.

In terms of claimed acceleration times, the Benz seems to have the matchup won on paper with its 3.8-second dash to 100km/h compared to the Macan's 4.4 seconds, but will that carryover to the real world?
