McLaren 720S Spider teased

British manufacturer to reveal new drop-top supercar on December 8.

McLaren Automotive has announced it will reveal a new model early next month, likely to be the 720S Spider.

The British marque issued the above image which appears to be a 720S, with the only other information given being that the new model will be revealed on December 8.

McLaren's new drop-top supercar will be the second new model launched under the company's £1.2 billion ($2.1b) Track25 business plan, which will see 18 new models and derivatives to be launched between now and 2025.

The first model launched under this plan was the Speedtail 'Hyper-GT', revealed last month, joining the company's Ultimate Series flagship family.

Power in the 720S Spider should come from the same 527KW/770Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 as the coupe. Expect the convertible version to hit triple figures in around 3.0 seconds, and be capable of a top speed well over 300km/h.
