McLaren 720S Stealth Edition unveiled

Despite its name, the Stealth Edition is hard not to notice. Irony, thy name is McLaren.

The McLaren 720S Stealth Edition has been unveiled overnight, continuing a long line of one-off MSO takes on the mid-engined rival to the Ferrari 488.

Developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) for the marque's London dealer, the Stealth Edition has an exterior finished in Sarthe Grey paint, said to be inspired by the McLaren F1 GTR which won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Satin carbon-fibre is used for the car's front air intakes, wing mirror arms and caps, engine service cover, and rear deck, aero bridges and air intakes.

According to the company, the Stealth Edition's red highlight, which stretches from the bonnet, along the sides and all the way through to the tail, took nearly 200 man-hours to paint.

Red highlights are also used on a single spoke of each wheel, as well as throughout the car's cabin, where it can be found around the dashboard, seats, door trims and stitching.

While the company has gone into great detail about the Stealth Edition's aesthetic changes, there's not a single word about its mechanical underpinnings.

This, presumably, means it is identical to its standard 720S siblings, which are powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 cranking out 527kW of power and 770Nm of torque.
