2019 Audi A6L unveiled
Long-wheelbase sedan is actually bigger than an A8, but it's only set for China.
Audi has unveiled the 2019 A6L at the Guangzhou motor show, capitalising on demand for extended-wheelbase versions of regular models.
The A6L measures 100mm longer than the regular A6 sedan, making it longer than even the brand's flagship A8 sedan. Neither the regular wheelbase A6 or A8 are sold in the Chinese market, reflecting the huge demand for cars with generous rear legroom.
When it arrives in China, the A6L will be powered by a choice of 140kW or 165kW turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engines, or a 250kW 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine assisted by mild-hybrid technology.
An 'e-tron' badged plug-in hybrid is set to be made available at a later date.
Competitors for the A6L will included extended-wheelbase variants of the Mercedes Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Jaguar XF.
The A6L has been sold in China exclusively since 2005, and is manufactured at the company's plant in Changchun.
