2019 Porsche 911 teased

And it looks remarkably different! Just kidding, it's still a Porsche 911...

Porsche has issued a new teaser image for its upcoming 2019 911, revealing the car will maintain its familiar silhouette. Surprised? Us neither.

Set for reveal at the Los Angeles motor show later this month, the '992' 911 has been spied a multitude of times in various states of undress.

Based on those images, we know the car will get slimmer tail-lights with a clear cover, along with a diffuser and exhaust treatment in keeping with the Panamera, Macan and Cayenne.

Along with the usual gamut of internal combustion options, the new 911 is expected to be offered with a hybrid powertrain for the first time in its long history.

Speaking earlier this year, August Achleitner, head of the model's development, said the rear-engined sports car needs to evolve – just not too quickly.

“With each innovation, the decisive factor for me is whether it suits the character of the 911,” he said.

“We don’t necessarily have to be the first in this regard with the 911. What’s crucial, rather, is that every innovation be offered in a typical Porsche manifestation... Even where the public might be expecting a bigger ‘wow factor,’ in the long run a certain aesthetic reserve pays dividends.”

We're expected a huge move forward behind the wheel, where a modern dual-screen driver instrument binnacle and new infotainment system will likely feature.

We'll have to wait for the Los Angeles motor show for more details on the new 911. Stay tuned for more in the lead up.
