TVR Griffith hits the race track – video

Watch and listen as the all-new British sports car hits the Castle Combe Circuit.

The TVR Griffith was first revealed over a year ago, timed in line with the British sports car maker's 70th anniversary, but production isn't scheduled to commence until late this year.

Now, the company has let one of the first examples loose on a race track in the UK, giving us another look at the reborn nameplate in a dynamic setting, following its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Power in the Griffith comes from a dry-sump 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated V8 from Ford, which has also been fettled by the boffins at Cosworth.

Full specifications of the powertrain are yet to be detailed, but the company claims the Griffith boasts a 400bhp (298kW) per tonne power-to-weight ratio.

The 0-60mph (0-97km/h) sprint is claimed to take less than four seconds, while top speed is rated at 200mph (322km/h).

Keen prospective buyers in the UK can now put down a £5000 ($8775) deposit to secure a "fully configurable coupe" on the company's website, as all the of Launch Edition models have been sold out.
