2020 Hyundai Palisade leaked ahead of debut

‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design theme first seen earlier this year is toned down for flagship crossover

The Hyundai Palisade has been leaked a full two weeks ahead of its official debut at the Los Angeles motor show.

Russian website Auto Review has published a press photo showing off the Palisade's front and side, with stylising clearly derived from the HDC-2 Grandmaster concept unveiled at the Busan motor show in June.

The design has been toned with slimmer wheel arch flares, a less in-your-face grille, and a reduced quantity of brightwork. The production car also features working door handles, and proper wing mirrors.

Like the smaller Santa Fe, the Palisade features a thin strip of driving lights integrated into the grille, while the main- and high-beam units sit, partially disguised, further down the fascia.

Under the skin, the Palisade will share a lot in common with the Kia Telluride, which has already been unveiled.

Like the Telluride, the Palisade will be available with three rows of seating, and a maximum capacity of eight people. Both cars are expected to be available with a V6 engine, and the choice of either front- or all-wheel drive.

We expect to find out more about the Palisade when it is unveiled on November 28. When it goes on sale in the US during the northern spring of 2019 it will replace the long-wheelbase Grand Santa Fe, which is based on the previous-generation Santa Fe's platform.

Australia

Although Hyundai Australia says it is interested in the vehicle, the Palisade seems unlikely to make the trip Down Under, as it's currently only available in left-hand drive.

Stay tuned for our coverage of the Palisade's official reveal at the Los Angeles motor show later this month.
