2019 Lexus RC gets TRD treatment in Japan

Facelifted luxury sports coupe now available with muscly body kit, suspension tweaks, and new wheels in domestic market.

The updated Lexus RC is now available with a range of new Toyota Racing Development (TRD) accessories in its home market of Japan, including cosmetic and suspension upgrades to give it the look of a V8-powered RC F without all the go.

Shown in RC300h F Sport guise here, the 'F Sport Parts' catalogue is reportedly exclusive to the Japanese market and includes gloss-black body kit bits, a carbon-fibre lip spoiler, forged alloy wheels, sports exhaust system, and performance dampers.

Pricing for the body upgrades aren't detailed, though according to a report by Carscoops, the set of 19-inch forged alloy wheels are priced at US$5000 ($6925), and that doesn't include the tyres either.

Under the skin, the F Sport Parts Lexus RC features a sports muffler ($8033), steel underbody bracing, and a new performance damper brace at the rear.

As you can see, the key visual differences between the optioned-up RC300h and the full-fat RC F other than the badges are the more conventional horizontally-aligned quad-tipped exhaust rather than the stacked design that is a trademark of F models, and the less-pronounced rear guards.

While the F Sport Parts upgrades are specific to the Japanese market, Australia will be getting the facelifted 2019 RC coupe before the end of the year – you can read more about the updated model here.
