BMW X5 reaches millionth production milestone

BMW is today celebrating a landmark milestone with one million BMW X5 models built and sold since production first started 11 years ago.

The BMW X5 becomes the very first Sports Activity Vehicle from the BMW portfolio to reach the six-digit production figure.

The vehicle at the centre of this production milestone is a sapphire black metallic BMW X5 xDrive35i featuring cinnamon brown Nevada leather trim.

This particular model came off the assembly line at the American BMW plant in South Carolina and is currently on its way to a customer in China.

When the BMW X5 first premiered in 1999 it was the first vehicle of its kind, combining car-like dynamics on tarmac with impressive traction off-road.

Since then the family of BMW X Series models has grown to now boast four members - the BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5 and BMW X6.

During its lifetime the BMW X5 has won numerous awards and accolades including the inter alia, the design prize “autonis” awarded by the trade journal “auto motor und sport“ for the most attractive design, as well as a Gold Award in the J.D. Power Study on customer satisfaction in North America in 2007.
