2015-18 Ram 2500 and 3500 recalled again – UPDATE

UPDATE, 5 November, 2018: American Special Vehicles has issued a correction, now also accepted by the ACCC and live on the recalls.gov.au website. Where previously the concern was announced as a software issue, it has now been confirmed as mechanical.

The updated notice reads: "Some RAM 2500 and 3500 Trucks may have a defective tie rod bracket and mounting hardware."

"The failure of the mounting hardware may cause a noise and reduce steering response, forcing the wheel to turn in the wrong direction. This may pose an accident risk for the vehicle occupants or other road users."

1 November, 2018: American Special Vehicles have issued another recall for the Ram 2500 and 3500 this week, over concerns "defective software" could interfere with the steering.

According to the company, the fault could cause the wheel to turn in the wrong direction, posing a hazard to the driver and an accident risk to other road users.

This recall affects Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks from the model years 2015 through 2018 – a VIN list is available here.

Owners will be contacted via mail, and advised to contact their local Ram dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.

It's the second time this week the Ram 2500 and 3500 have been recalled locally, with another notice issued yesterday (also including the smaller 1500) for 650 units fitted with potentially faulty tailgate latches.
