New crate engine tuned to deliver a neat 1000hp out of the box.
The Dodge Super Charger concept is a heavily modified and restored 1968 Dodge Charger coupe, and is the perfect vehicle to show off Fiat Chrysler's new 'Hellephant' V8 crate engine.
Not only does it have a wider track with flared fibreglass wheel arch extensions, the concept car also has a 51mm longer wheelbase, significantly reducing the car's front overhangs.
The Super Charger rides on 20-inch wheels at the front, and 21-inch rims at the rear. Its low hunkered down stance comes courtesy of suspension that's been lowered 64mm at the front, and 89mm at the back.
Six-piston Brembo brakes are responsible for bringing the Super Charger to a halt. The concept also features flush-fitting front and rear bumpers, as well a new front splitter, fashioned out of fibreglass.
At the back the Super Charger has 5.0-inch exhaust tips borrowed from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio routed through where the original tail-lights used to reside. New LED brake lights glow in a ring around the high-mounted exhaust tips.
Inside, the Super Charger sports plenty of Hellephant badging, front seats and steering taken from the Dodge Viper, a full set of Mopar gauges, and a custom roll cage.
Under the bonnet is the new Hellephant crate engine. The 7.0-litre supercharged Hemi V8 is built not only smoke tyres, but also create headlines with its 1000hp (746kW) of power and 1288Nm of torque.
In addition to greater displacement than the earlier Hellcrate engine, the Hellephant has a special high-lift cam, custom forged pistons, and a larger and more efficient supercharger.
It also features valve covers from the latest Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, along with valves, locks and retainers from the Challenger Demon.
The crate engine will be available in the US from the first quarter of 2019, and comes equipped a powertrain control module, wiring harness, accelerator pedal, chassis harness, oxygen and charge air temperature sensors, fuel pump controller, and cam bus interface.
A front-end accessory drive kit, including alternator, power steering pump, belts, pulleys and other items is an optional extra.
