Ken Block ‘Hoonitruck’ revealed

With a twin-turbo V6 engine lifted from a racing Ford GT.

Ken Block has become one of the best-known figures in global motoring, having set the internet alight with his smokey, sideways antics. Having drifted Subaru Imprezas, Ford Focuses and a hotted-up Mustang, he's revealed his latest franken-car. Meet the Hoonitruck.

Built in the shell of a 1977 Ford F-150, the truck is powered by a twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine lifted directly from the Le Mans-winning Ford GT racer. It makes a whopping 682kW of power and 950Nm of torque, and is described by Block's communications team as a "snarling, billet-aluminium menace" of an engine.

Power is put to all four wheels through a six-speed gearbox, while the body and chassis were developed by Detroit Speed, a company based (oddly, given its name) in North Carolina.

There are, according to Block, a number of direct tie-ins with the current F-150, including aluminium bodywork, remote start and a working reversing camera and tow-hitch.

“This project has been in the works for about two years,” said Block.

“I’m beyond pleased with how it turned out, it’s simply one of the most badass and unique vehicles I’ve seen in a long time and I think it compliments my Hoonicorn perfectly.

"It’s also crazy to be throwing something around that’s this size when doing Gymkhana-style driving. But, it looks absolutely wild on camera, and that was our goal from the start. I can’t wait for the fans to be able to see it in action, I think they’re gonna love it!”
