Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante spied undisguised

Storming twin-turbo V12 convertible shows off its muscular proportions during a rainy drive.

Photographers have snapped images of the upcoming Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante without camouflage this week, giving a very clear look at what to expect from the drop-top super-GT.

Expect most of the coupe's running gear to feature in the Volante, with a folding fabric soft-top replacing the fixed metal roof.

That means a brawny 533kW/900Nm 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 should reside under that long bonnet, sending drive to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential and eight-speed automatic sourced from ZF.

Given the coupe can hit 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds on its way to a top whack of 340km/h, expect the Volante to post slightly slower numbers – think 3.5 or 3.6 seconds to 100, and a v-max of around 320-330km/h.

Under the skin, expect forged double wishbones at the front and a multi-link setup down back. Adaptive dampers should be standard too, with three modes to match the powertrain: GT, Sport and Sport Plus.

As far as the design goes, we reckon the drop-top DBS Superleggera looks gorgeous – let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

These images indicate the DBS Superleggera Volante isn't far off an official debut. We'd wager sometime before the end of the year is likely.
