McLaren BC-03: Vision Gran Turismo concept to spawn one-off project

Futuristic racing concept confirmed as the inspiration for bespoke production model commissioned by one very lucky (and wealthy) client.

Remember the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo? Well, it could be on its way to becoming a real-life car thanks to McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

A spokesperson for the British supercar specialist recently confirmed with Piston Heads a one-off hypercar project is in the works with MSO, codenamed 'BC-03', believed to draw inspiration from the virtual track car concept.

"BC-03 is a bespoke customer commission being created by McLaren Special Operations," a McLaren spokesperson told the publication.

When prodded for more details, the representative declined further comment "because the specifics of the project are confidential between MSO and its client."

BC-03, or 'Bespoke Commission 03', will be a track-oriented carbon-fibre hypercar more potent than the already-wild Senna and more focused for the circuit than the upcoming Speedtail.

Power will likely come from a hybrid system pairing the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 from the 720S with at least one electric motor on the front axle.

It's unclear how close BC-03 will come to the Ultimate Vision GT's 1150PS (845kW) power output, though it's not out of the question considering the Speedtail's hybrid powertrain will put out more than 1000PS (735kW) when it debuts on October 26.

What isn't likely to translate from the virtual world to the physical is the Ultimate Vision GT's cabin layout (below), which sees the driver lay on their front – which we doubt would pass any current safety legislation.
