Ford teases hybrid Mustang model
But it's not clear whether Ford is showing us an electrified take on the GT Fastback, or something else entirely.
Ford has teased a new electrified Mustang model of some kind, but whether it's the rumoured 'Mach 1' SUV or a proper electric-boosted take on the current coupe remains to be seen.
Whatever the car is, it was teased as part of the Built Ford Proud advertising campaign released last week. Featuring a closed-over grille and a blue outline for the traditional pony badge, there's no doubt it features some form of electric power.
The nose looks slightly different to that of the regular internal combustion Mustang, both in the shape of the headlights and the overall shape.
Ford has said it's bringing a hybrid Mustang in 2019, complete with the same power outputs as the 5.0-litre V8, but there's no firm indication the car pictured here will fill that role.
If it's not the Mustang hybrid, it could be another look at the 'Mach 1' electric crossover coming in 2020. With a range of around 480km and styling elements in common with the current Mustang, it will act as a spearhead for Ford's push into the world of full electrification.
Although the Mach 1 name isn't confirmed, previous teaser images have confirmed we'll see 'Stang tail-lights on the electric SUV.
