2019 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 spied at the Nurburgring

Updated performance SUV snapped doing rounds at Germany's iconic race track.

Photographers have captured images of the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GLC63 wagon at the famed Nurburgring circuit in Germany.

Like earlier prototypes we've seen based on the standard GLC, this vehicle is wearing updated bumpers and light units front and rear, previewing a rather mild design update that should keep the mid-sized crossover fresh against key rivals like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.

The new headlights feature a new LED daytime-running light signature that spans the top and base of the clusters, and the tail-lights get a new LED signature.

It's unclear how significant the changes to the front and rear bumpers will be, though the swirly black-and-white camouflage adorning these areas suggests some revisions are in store, albeit minor.

Other changes should include an updated infotainment system and the availability of an all-digital instrument cluster as seen in the refreshed and related 2019 C-Class range, as previewed by the GLC F-Cell (below).

We'd expect local models will follow the lead of the C-Class and include the large 10.25-inch central display and 12.3-inch digital driver's display as standard equipment.

Under the skin, the AMG version of the GLC likely won't see any engine upgrades, though it should get the newer nine-speed multi-clutch transmission recently introduced to the AMG C63 range.

As for timing, expect to see the facelifted GLC range revealed very late this year or early-2019, ahead of an anticipated Australian market launch towards the tail-end of next year as a 2020 upgrade.
