16 October 2017: Aston Martin DB11 Volante revealed

Built around the same bonded-aluminium structure as the hardtop, the Volante tips the scales at 1875 kg. Although that’s lighter than the DB9 Volante it replaces, the folding top and relevant convertible hardware make the car 115kg heavier than the V8-engined DB11 coupe.

15 October 2016: BMW 6 Series Old v New

BMW is no stranger to the big GT Coupe, with the iconic 6 Series name now celebrating 40-years on the road.

Back in 1976, BMW launched the E24 6 Series as a replacement for the stylish (but then 10-year old) E9 coupe. The E9 had made its mark on the road as well as on the racetrack, spawning the infamous 3.0 CSL ‘Batmobile’.

Put simply, the E24 had big shoes to fill.

15 October 2013: Northern Territory brings back open speed limits

A 200km section of the highway between Barrow Creek and Alice Springs will be trialled without speed limits for one year from February 1, 2014.

Delivering on an election commitment, NT Transport Minister Peter Styles said the stretch of road selected for the trial had no identified road geometry issues and low crash numbers.

“In the 10 years between 2001-2011 there wasn’t any speed related fatalities on this stretch of road.”

16 October 2012: Lexus LFA goes pink for charity

A Brisbane-based Lexus LFA has gone pink for October in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Lexus of Brisbane's pink $700,000 LFA will be on display in the showroom, which will also embrace the pink theme along with the dealership's customer welcome packs.

14 October 2008: Maserati MC-12 smashes Nurburgring lap record

British performance car magazine, Evo, is claiming to have smashed the production car lap record at the infamous Nurburgring race track in a Maserati MC-12, taking just 7:24.29 minutes to lap the circuit regarded as the ultimate test of a supercar.

These days more than seven minutes around the 'Green Hell' is 'slow', but Maserati's twin-under-the-skin to the Ferrari Enzo was a big deal 10 years ago.
