2019 Range Rover Evoque interior spied
The new smaller SUV's interior has been photographed, and it shows a heavily Velar influence
The interior of the next-generation Range Rover Evoque has been spied for the first time, while the exterior has revealed a few more of its secrets.
The new car's cabin seems to be heavily influenced by the Velar. Like the bigger vehicle, the new Evoque has a tilt-adjustable capacitive touchscreen for the infotainment system, and a black-panel display for the climate control system.
Unlike the Velar, which runs with a rotary shifter, the Evoque is fitted with a more conventional shifter. Whether that makes production remains to be seen, given the panel surrounding it is unfinished. Ahead of the driver there's a fully digital instrumentation display.
The latest prototype seems to be wearing a similar amount of exterior camouflage to vehicles we've spied before, but this car does appear to have a production-ready grille and side sills fitted.
Range Rover has also taken away the panels which had previously hidden the car's lower air intakes from view.
Stylistically, the new Evoque is clearly an evolution of today's car. While the model line may have begun as a three-door model, the second-generation Evoque will not feature that body style. A convertible is still a possibility, though.
Under the skin, the new Evoque will use an updated version of the D8 architecture, which is also employed by the Jaguar E-Pace, Land Rover Discovery Sport, the current Evoque, and the upcoming Tata Harrier.
We expect the new Evoque to be powered by a selection of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain likely to be added to the range at some point in the future.
