Mini streamlines model range in the UK

Classic, Sport and Exclusive 'styles' feature in revised line-up along with enhanced levels of specification.

Mini UK has announced a revised model structure across all its ranges, with each line available in three new 'styles' – Classic, Sport and Exclusive.

Designed to streamline the specification process and make it easier for customers to choose their car, the company claims the new model structure will allow buyers to create their vehicle using five steps.

There's also increased levels of standard equipment across the range, including automatic headlights and wipers, ambient interior lighting, and Mini logo projection for the outside as well.

Kicking off the line-up is the Classic, which starts at £16,190 ($30,269) for the One Hatch 3 Door, and includes kit like a 6.5-inch colour infotainment screen with DAB radio and Bluetooth, along with the aforementioned specification enhancements for the new model year.

Stepping up to the Sport takes pricing up to £20,230 ($37,823) for the Cooper Hatch 3 Door, and adds the John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit and spoiler, John Cooper Works alloy wheels, sports suspension, John Cooper Works bucket seats, John Cooper Works sports steering wheel, and an anthracite headliner. The Sport specification is available on the Cooper and Cooper S engines.

Finally, the more luxurious Exclusive variant also starts at £20,230 ($37,823) in Cooper Hatch 3 Door guise, building in the Classic's equipment list by adding 'Exclusive' alloy wheels, the chrome line exterior and interior packages, Mini Yours lounge leather upholstery, and Mini Yours leather steering wheel. Like the Sport, the Exclusive style is available on Cooper and Cooper S models.

As for the five-step process for customers, the sequence is: choose your model (body style), choose your engine (One, Cooper, Cooper D or Cooper S), choose your style (Classic, Sport, Exclusive), choose your packs, and personalise.

There are new option packs available for the new model year as well, each combining the most popular upgrades to bring added value for customers – according to Mini.

Finally, the company's UK division has launched its online sales program, allowing buyers to handle all aspects of the buying process through the company's British website, before finalising the delivery date at their chosen dealer.
