Highlights: Race 25 2018, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000

Before we get into stories about the drivers, race and teams, you might as well catch up on the race highlights. This year didn't quite the grandstand finishes to which we've become accustomed, but Craig Lowndes winning was a heartwarming result for one of the sport's legends.

Regret is a horrible thing to live with. That’s what winning last year’s Bathurst 1000 freed me from. For five years, I’d wished I could jump in a time machine, back to the last few laps of 2012. I would have fired it down the inside of Jamie Whincup to take the lead on the final lap.

David Reynolds had a tough day at the office on Sunday. Before he set out to defend his 2017 title, the Erebus Racing driver penned this fascinating story about finishing second, and then finding the top step of the podium at Australia's biggest race.

It's like one of those unsettling dreams where everything seems familiar but nothing makes sense: The car is obviously a Porsche 911, instantly recognisable to serious students of the marque as a 964, manufactured from 1989 to 1994. But the details don’t compute.
