9 October 2017: Jaguar XF Sportbrake nabs 'fastest towed ski' record

The 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake was used as the tow vehicle as former British Olympic skier, Graham Bell, donned the skis.

Guinness World Records was present as it recorded an average top speed of 189km/h, smashing the previous record by 76km/h.



8 October 2015: Mitsubishi eX concept revealed

As a concept, the ASX-sized eX is loaded with new technologies, from its next-generation electric drive system to its comfort and convenience features.

7 October 2014: Porsche rules out entry-level 718

Porsche has ruled out building a four-cylinder entry-level convertible, dubbed the Porsche 718, based on the Boxster.

Famous last words, right? Okay, the company's comments were more based around introducing a model below the Boxster with a stripped-out cabin and four-cylinder engines.

Instead, Porsche rebadged the Boxster and Cayman as 718 models, and swapped out the naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engines for turbocharged fours.



11 October 2013: Toyota sells two-millionth locally-built car in Oz

Toyota Australia has announced the production and sale of its two-millionth locally built car for the domestic market.

The milestone comes exactly 50 years after Australia became the first country to build Toyota vehicles outside Japan, starting with the Tiara in 1963.



11 October 2011: Vauxhall VXR8 wins MPG marathon

Vauxhall's VXR8, otherwise known as the HSV GTS, has won the Fleet World MPG Marathon, by achieving a 53 percent improvement on its combined figure.

Top Gear's Online editor Chris Mooney drove the car, and giving him tips along the way was navigator, Andrew Duerden, who claims to be Vauxhall’s resident eco-driving expert. The VXR8's combined figure is 11.2-litres/100km, yet the pair was able to eke out just 7.3L/100km from the 6.2-litre V8.
