Mini Cooper S GT Edition revealed for France

Just 150 units will be produced, and they're only for the French market – damn.

Mini France has revealed the Cooper S GT Edition, a special version of the 3 Door Hatch that celebrates the iconic Mini 1275GT built between 1969 and 1980.

Limited to 150 units all destined for the French market, the GT Edition gets unique appointments like grey stripes for the bonnet, boot and sides with GT lettering and checkerboard pattern, and red accents for the front and rear spoilers with 'GT' branding.

Inside, there's a 3D-printed 'GT Limited Edition' trim insert on the passenger's side of the dashboard, LED-illuminated sill plates with 'GT' branding, and 'GT' puddle lamps.

The GT-branded bits are bolstered by various features that are normally optional in the French market, including comfort access, rear-view camera, LED headlights and fog-lights, electric folding exterior mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch John Cooper Works alloys with run-flat tyres, the John Cooper Works exterior package, the lighting package, and a John Cooper Works sports leather steering wheel.

Power comes from the same 141kW/280Nm 2.0-litre four-pot turbo petrol engine as the standard Cooper S, sent to the front wheels via the choice of a standard six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Buyers in France can now order the Cooper S GT Edition from €35,900 ($58,675). As it's confirmed only for the French market, don't expect to see any Down Under.
