Haval has announced it will offer a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty across its range until December 31.
The promotion is part of its 2018 plate clearance, and will apply to private buyers exclusively – business, fleet and rental customers will have to settle for a seven-year, 150,000km coverage period.
Haval is at pains to say the promotional warranty is still fully factory-backed, not underwritten by a third-party insurer.
The Chinese brand's move mimics the timing of Volkswagen's warranty announcement – earlier this week, the German brand announced it would extend its three-year warranty to five years until December 31, in a trial Michael Bartsch, VW Australia managing director, said will be "very informative".
Kia is the only brand in Australia to offer a permanent seven-year warranty, with much of the mainstream market – with the notable exception of Nissan, Subaru, Volkswagen, Suzuki and Toyota – moving to a five-year coverage period.
