McLaren P1 LM takes on Pikes Peak – video

One mean McLaren stretches its legs up a famous Colorado mountain. Enjoy.

The P1 LM takes McLaren's hardest, fastest track-only car and makes it road legal. It'll lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 6:43.2 and, thanks to the combination of a twin-turbo V8 engine and an electric motor, pumps out 735kW.

Developed by Lanzante, it's a handy 60kg lighter than the 'standard' P1 GTR thanks to lightweight seats, plastic windows, titanium bolts and a missing set of air jacks.

With a modified rear wing and enlarged splitter, along with bigger dive planes, help coax 40 per cent more downforce from the P1 GTR's body, too.

It's definitely a weapon around a track, but it also does a pretty handy job at tackling the legendary Pikes Peak International Hillclimb.
