Fiat 500 1957 Edition returns to the US
Retro-styled special back by popular demand in North America, celebrating 60 years since the original Nuova Cinquecento.
Fiat has brought back the 500 1957 Edition to the United States, following strong sales of the vintage-styled micro hatch during the 2016 model year.
The 1957 Edition is available as a US$995 ($1370) package for the high-grade 500 Lounge, adding 16-inch retro-inspired wheel options, retro Fiat badging, ivory door trim panels, white exterior mirrors, and a two-tone exterior finish (white roof on the hatch and black soft-top for the convertible).
Other highlights include Marrone leather for the shift boot (manual only), and an Acorio/Marrone leather steering wheel. Three retro paint colours will be offered with the package – Celeste Blue (pictured), Chiaro (light green) and Bianco Ice (white).
Like the wider US-market Fiat 500 range, the 1957 Edition is powered by a 1.4-litre 'MultiAir' turbocharged petrol engine, developing 135hp (100kW) of power and 150lb-ft (203Nm) of torque.
A six-speed manual transmission sends drive to the front wheels as standard, with a six-speed automatic available as an option.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has confirmed the 500 1957 Edition will hit US showrooms this fall – or spring Down Under.

FCA's local division was unable to confirm whether the 1957 Edition will make it Down Under, though Alessia Terranova, senior manager for corporate communications, didn't rule it out entirely.
"We're always evaluating new product for the local market," she told CarAdvice.
FCA Australia offered a similar model in the form of the 2018 Fiat 500 Anniversario, which also commemorated the nameplate's 60th anniversary, limited to just 60 units nationally and was launched in November last year.
