Skoda Kodiaq RS interior revealed

Bi-turbo diesel SUV gets swathes of Alcantara and plenty of red stitching.

The 2019 Skoda Kodiaq RS has finally been revealed – partially. Ahead of its full unveiling at the Paris motor show next month, the Czech brand has revealed the interior of its new performance model.

Headlining the cabin are sexy sports seats with integrated headrests at the front, trimmed in Alcantara and accented with carbon-look leather on the bolsters. There's also contrasting red stitching practically everywhere, including a diamond quilt effect on the seat inserts.

Ahead of the driver is a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel featuring the same red stitching, accenting the perforated leather trim of the rim.

The door inserts get Alcantara trim as well, including a diamond pattern echoing the seat design though with black stitching instead of red.

Other interior appointments include a black headliner, carbon-look dashboard insert, and stainless steel pedals.

While not mentioned in the press materials, it appears the digital instrument display gets an RS-specific mode with a central tachometer and digital speedometer readout – similar in appearance to Audi's S and RS models.

Skoda will present the Kodiaq RS at the Paris motor show, which kicks off on October 2. Stay tuned for our coverage.

Australia

Speaking with CarAdvice in June, Paul Pottinger, communications boss for Skoda's local division, said the Kodiaq RS is an unlikely starter for Australia – at least for the time being – as the 176TDI is currently not available for 'hot climate' regions like Australia.

However, Pottinger noted that the Australian arm of the Volkswagen Group is "actively addressing" our region's 'hot climate' designation, which is also responsible for locally-bound Volkswagen Golf R models being detuned compared to their European equivalents.

When asked if the Kodiaq RS will be offered with a second powertrain, such as the 206TSI petrol available in the Superb, Pottinger said it's "unlikely" for such a "specialised vehicle" to be offered with two engine options.
