Top-selling small SUV gets black pack-style treatment and added equipment for small price jump.

Mitsubishi Australia has announced another special-edition version of one of its SUV models, in the form of the ASX Black Edition.

UPDATE, 24/10/18: The information CarAdvice originally received stated there was no price increase for the ASX Black Edition over the ES on which it's based. However, this isn't the case – pricing is $1280 dearer at $26,740 plus ORCs.

Priced from $26,740 before on-road costs, the Back Edition is based on the entry-level ASX ES fitted with the CVT automatic, asking for a little over $1000 more.

Compared to the standard car, the ASX Black Edition gets gloss black finishes for the alloy wheels, mirrors and front skid plate, along with a chromed exhaust tip, front fog-lights, privacy glass, and indicators integrated into the side mirrors.

Inside, the limited-edition crossover gets aluminium pedals, carbon-fibre-look trim on the centre stack, microsuede seat inserts with leatherette bolsters, and contrasting red stitching for the the steering wheel, gearshift and handbrake lever.

There's also rear parking sensors along with keyless entry and push-button start – features normally reserved for the top-spec Exceed variant.

Colour options include Starlight (white), Black and Titanium (grey), and 1000 units will are available nationally. The ASX Black Edition is on sale now.

The announcement follows the release of the Eclipse Cross Sport Edition earlier this week.
