BMW M3: Four generations face off in a drag race – video

The BMW M3 has been around for over 30 years and five generations – how far has the company's staple sports sedan come?

Mat Watson from the UK's Carwow managed to line up four generations of M3 for a drag race, including some very special editions.

In this latest video clip posted to the publication's YouTube channel, Watson and his colleagues race an E30 M3, ] E46 M3 CSL, E92 M3 GTS and the current F80 M3 CS.

There's inline four- and six-cylinder engines, along with V8s featuring in this quartet – and you even have a split between naturally-aspirated and turbocharged motors. Progress, people.
