Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed the new-generation Sprinter van line-up will be arriving Down Under next month, headlined by the availability of the company's new MBUX infotainment system and new driver assistance systems.
From October, the Sprinter panel van and cab chassis variants will arrive in Australian showrooms, with the minibus and tractor head versions in early 2019.
Standard equipment on the front- and rear-wheel drive panel van includes keyless start, a 7.0-inch MBUX infotainment system, cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot assist, lane-keep assist, a rear-view camera, daytime-running lights, idle stop/start, and electric folding exterior mirrors.
The cab-chassis body gets pretty much the same level of specification, though misses out on the van's blind-spot assist feature and rear-view camera.
Power comes from either a 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel or 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel. The former is available in various states of tune ranging from 84kW to 120kW depending on variant, mated as standard to a six-speed manual transmission.
Opting for the 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel ups outputs to 140kW and 440Nm, mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission as standard.
Pricing starts at $46,008 plus on-road costs for the short-wheelbase front-wheel drive panel van, $41,238 for the front-wheel drive medium wheelbase single cab-chassis, and $56,552 fort the medium-wheelbase rear-wheel drive dual-cab chassis. There are too many configurations to list, though the range tops out at $76,069 plus ORCs for the long-wheelbase rear-drive van.
Four-cylinder versions with rear- or all-wheel drive are available with an optional seven-speed automatic ($2875), while front-wheel drive four-cylinder models can be optioned with a nine-speed auto ($2875).
