2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 teased

New 'entry-level' performance hatch headed to Paris in bright yellow.

Mercedes-AMG has posted a series of teaser images of the upcoming A35, giving us an early glimpse at the new mid-tier performance model ahead of its public debut at the Paris motor show next month.

Published on the brand's Facebook and Twitter, the trio of images show the new model is definitely an A-Class, will get lots of AMG badging, and debut a new bright yellow exterior colour.

The 'A35' badge is also visible in the shot of the LED tail-light (top), confirming the name of the new hot hatch model.

Captioned with "It will be here in an instant! Get ready to meet the newest member of the Mercedes-AMG family", the set of images indicates the A35 will be revealed very soon, and reports speculate it will go on sale in Europe shortly after reveal.

The powertrain is yet to be confirmed at this stage, though it's believed to get a detuned version of the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine used in the flagship A45, with outputs claimed to be in the vicinity of the 221kW/400Nm offered by the Audi S3 in Europe.

Combined with a quick-shifting dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive, the A35 should accelerate from 0-100 in under 5.0 seconds, and be electronically limited to 250km/h.

Stay tuned to CarAdvice for our coverage of the A35's reveal in the coming weeks.
