2019 Ford Focus pricing and specs

All-new hatchback and wagon line-up priced from $25,990, arriving in December with AEB and eight-speed auto as standard.

Ford Australia has released pricing and specification details for the all-new 2019 Focus range, kicking off at $25,990 before on-road costs.

Headlining the new-generation Focus line-up is the availability of the wagon for the first time, range-wide inclusion of autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, along with a new three-cylinder petrol engine mated as standard to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Three trim levels will be offered at launch, starting with the entry-level Trend and topping out with the flagship Titanium. In between there's the sporty ST-Line – another first for our market – which is also the only trim level offered as a wagon.

Kicking off proceedings is the Trend, priced from $25,990 plus ORCs, $2600 dearer than the previous price of entry.

However, that extra cash gets you an eight-speed auto as standard (the outgoing model started with a manual), and a raft of standard equipment to offset the relatively premium starting point.

From the base model, you get 16-inch alloys, LED daytime-running lights, automatic headlights and wipers, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, leather steering wheel, an 8.0-inch Sync 3 infotainment system with in-built satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, a six-speaker audio system, selectable drive modes, and six-way manual adjustment for the driver's seat including lumbar support.

There's also the aforementioned AEB system which detects pedestrians and cyclists, lane-keep assist, a rear-view camera with rear parking sensors, hill-start assist, post-impact braking system, powered child locks, along with dual front, side and curtain airbags.

Stepping up to the ST-Line (pictured in blue) bumps the asking price to $28,990 plus ORCs for the hatchback and $30,990 for the wagon (above).

Over the Trend, the ST-Line adds numerous sporty appointments like a honeycomb front grille, body kit, 17-inch alloys, sports suspension with 10mm lower ride height, LED fog-lights with cornering function, LED tail-lights, privacy glass, chrome tailpipe finishers, auto-folding side mirrors with puddle lights, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, and a wireless smartphone charge pad.

The ST-Line also adds a dark headliner, flat-bottomed steering wheel, metallic foot pedals, and tyre-pressure monitoring. Opting for the wagon also adds a tonneau cover for the luggage area, roof rails, 'Easy Fold' rear seats with a remote release in the boot, and load compartment loops for tie-downs, along with multi-link rear suspension (hatchbacks get a torsion beam setup).

Finally, the range-topping Titanium hatchback comes in at $34,490 plus on-road costs, and is something of a technology showcase for the Blue Oval.

Key upgrades include adaptive cruise control with stop/go function, speed sign recognition, lane-centring assist, evasive steering assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive LED headlights.

Other features fitted as standard in the flagship variant include scrolling LED indicators, automatic high-beam, 18-inch alloys, leather upholstery, heated front seats, Bang & Olufsen nine-speaker sound system with subwoofer, and configurable LED ambient cabin lighting.

All versions of the new Focus are powered by a new 1.5-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, developing 134kW of power (@6000rpm) and 240Nm of torque – the latter available from just 1600rpm.

Drive is sent to the front wheels as standard via an eight-speed automatic transmission with wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and accessed via a new 'e-shifter' rotary dial.

The new powertrain features port and direct fuel injection for improved responsiveness and improved efficiency, along with idle stop/start technology.

Note: Ford is yet to quote fuel consumption data for the new Focus range.

Options include the Driver Assistance Pack ($1250) for the Trend and ST-Line models, adding the adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and evasive steering assist systems that are standard on the Titanium.

ST-Line buyers can also add the Design Pack ($1800), which brings the Titanium's LED exterior lighting package with adaptive headlights, auto high-beam and scrolling indicators, along with larger 18-inch alloys.

The Titanium is exclusively offered with an optional head-up display ($300) along with a new Active Park Assist 2 ($1000) which assists in parallel parking along with "tight, regular and large spaces".

Finally, the ST-Line and Titanium can be optioned with a panoramic sunroof ($2000), while all models are available with prestige paint ($550).

The new Focus range will arrive in Australian dealerships from December.
