Lucid Air laps Laguna Seca in 1:41.67 – video

It's still not in series production, but the Lucid Air has made some waves already. The four-door Tesla Model S rival has lapped Laguna Seca in just 1:41.67 on standard Pirelli tyres, making it faster than a Jaguar F-Type R or Lotus Evora.

That's also comfortably faster than a Jaguar I-Pace HSE which, with Randy Pobst behind the wheel, lapped the legendary American circuit in 1:48.18.

When it launches, the fastest Air is expected to hit 60mph (97km/h) in just 2.5 seconds on its way to a top speed north of 322km/h. As you can see, that's more than enough performance to comfortably demolish the straights at Laguna Seca.

Not content with its time on regular tyres, Lucid then slapped a set of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Rs on the car. The result was a 1:39.30 lap, quicker than a Porsche 911 GT3 or V12 Aston Martin DB11.

Release it now, guys. We're ready to experience that for ourselves.
