2019 Ssangyong Musso pricing and specs

Well-specced ute arriving in November from $30,490 drive-away

Ssangyong has revealed pricing and specs for the 2019 Musso, as it prepares for a November relaunch Down Under.

Now a factory-backed operation, the South Korean brand will launch with four model lines when it touches down: Rexton, Musso, Tivoli and Tivoli XLV. The entire range will be covered by a seven-year, unlimited kilometre warranty.

Musso is among the brand's best-known nameplates, and wades into a competitive segment locally, fighting with established names and new Chinese challengers for a slice of the lucrative dual-cab pie.

Peak towing capacity is 3.0 tonnes, but the company is working to homologate a 3.5-tonne capacity for our towing-crazy market. Gross combined mass is 6.75 tonnes, meaning it can carry a tonne in the tray while towing 3.0 tonnes. Our market will get the short-tray car with coil springs in November, with a long-tray car and leaf-sprung options coming next year.

Power in the entire range will come from a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel making 133kW and 400Nm. Base cars will come with a six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed automatic is available optionally on the entry-level car, and standard on the rest of the range. All models are four-wheel drive.

You'll pay $30,490 drive-away for the Musso EX manual, which comes with autonomous emergency braking and forward collision warning as standard, along with Bluetooth connectivity, fabric seats, a limited-slip differential and a full-sized spare. The automatic adds another $2000 to the drive-away price.

Jumping to the ELX pushes the price to $35,990 drive-away. The automatic is standard, along with 18-inch alloy wheels, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist.

The range tops out with the Ultimate, listed at $39,990 drive-away. You get 20-inch alloy wheels, heated and ventilated leather seats, a sunroof and a 360-degree camera over the ELX.

“With a high degree of safety features, great warranty and outstanding pricing we look forward to offering Australian customers a new choice in motoring when we go on sale in November,” said Tim Smith, Ssangyong Australia managing director.
